Morici, Longo & Associates Attorneys Win Plaintiff’s Requested Award in Chicago Premises Liability Case

Congratulations to Attorneys Ken Lubinski and Taylor Brewer on a jury verdict returned this week for $93,000 against the City of Chicago before the Honorable Judge Israel A. Desierto.

Attorneys Lubinski and Brewer at Morici, Longo & Associates are proud of the jury’s verdict in this difficult slip and fall case. Many months ago, the plaintiff was injured and sustained an aggravation of preexisting lumbar degeneration when she fell upon a cracked sidewalk two doors from her home. The lawsuit was brought against the City, who refused to make any offer of settlement during the three-day trial.

A jury deliberated for 12 hours over a two-day period before returning the verdict on March 16, 2020 in the exact amount asked for by the plaintiff, rejecting the defendant’s claim that the plaintiff was contributorily negligent.

The verdict is the first for Taylor Brewer, a 2019 graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law. In the long-standing tradition of Morici Figlioli & Associates, his necktie was ceremoniously cut and hung above the copy machine along with a copy of the verdict form. We are all very proud.
