Scott R. Clewis is a trial lawyer who has represented victims and their families in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases for twenty years. He concentrates his practice in claims and lawsuits involving construction injuries, premises liability, transportation negligence, defectively designed products, medical negligence, and related matters. Throughout his career, he has represented hundreds of clients in complex matters and has achieved numerous million and multi-million-dollar results.
Prior to joining Morici, Longo & Associates, Mr. Clewis was founder and sole equity owner of Clewis & Associates, P.C. (2007-2020) and a former Associate and Partner at two prominent Chicago plaintiff’s personal injury firms (2000-2007). Prior to practicing law, Mr. Clewis served as a Federal Law Clerk to the Honorable William J. Hibbler, United States District Court Judge in the Northern District of Illinois (2000); Chief Executive of the Juvenile Division of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, the largest juvenile court system in the world (1993-1999); a college and university administrator and educator (1987-1992), and a high school English teacher (1990). Mr. Clewis earned his Juris Doctorate (JD) from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he received the highest grade in the class in Legal Negotiations and received Dean’s List recognition. Additionally, he holds a master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology from University of Pennsylvania (master’s thesis awarded with honors distinction), a B.A. from University of Illinois at Urbana in English and Speech Communication (English Honors Program), and completed coursework in the M.A. Program in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Loyola University Chicago.
Mr. Clewis is currently a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, where he served on the Board of Managersbetween 2007 and 2009, as well as the Illinois State Bar Association and Chicago Bar Association. In 2003, Chicago Lawyer Magazine and the Law Bulletin Publishing Company recognized Mr. Clewis as one of the “40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch.” In 2008, 2009 and 2010, he was featured in the Rising Stars section of Chicago Magazine and Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine, among only 2.5% of Illinois lawyers to earn this distinction in the field of medical malpractice. In 2012, Mr. Clewis was recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer, a designation given to only those Illinois lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement in their field of specialty. In 2014, he was selected for admission to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which is limited to those attorneys obtaining million and multi-million-dollar verdicts or settlements. In 2018, Mr. Clewis was chosen for membership in the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyers.
