$250,000 Policy Limits Settlement for Injured Chicago Motorcyclist

Morici, Longo & Associates secured a $250,000 policy limits settlement on behalf of its client, a 48-year-old man who was injured while taking evasive action on his motorcycle to avoid being struck by another motorist who negligently changed lanes into his lane of travel. While he successfully avoided a collision with the other car, the client lost control of his motorcycle in the process, fell to the ground, and suffered a fractured clavicle.

A fracture that ultimately required surgery

The client first attempted to treat his clavicle fracture conservatively, but he ultimately needed surgical repair after the fracture failed to heal on its own. His extensive recovery, which required prolonged immobilization of his arm, prevented him from working as a self-employed consultant.

Building the claim, including hard-to-document lost wages

By working closely with Chicago injury attorney Andrew J. Mazzuca of Morici, Longo & Associates, the client was able to substantiate and present a claim for his lost wages, even though the record of his self-employment income was inconsistent.

By demonstrating the client's substantial pain, suffering, disability, and other losses caused by the other driver's carelessness, attorney Mazzuca convinced the defense attorney to recommend that the liability insurance carrier tender its full policy limits rather than face liability for the excess judgment that Morici, Longo & Associates was prepared to pursue at trial.

This result is one of many in which attorney Mazzuca and Morici, Longo & Associates have pursued every dollar available under an insurance policy for clients injured by the negligence of other motorists.
